Hand-painted in a soft light blue glaze, its expressive form and irregular surface draw inspiration from the roughly textured earthenware sculptures of Italian artist Leoncillo Leonardi.
The larger scale gives the owl a more commanding presence while retaining the collection’s intentionally imperfect, almost naïve character. Designed to blur the line between functional vase and decorative sculpture, it can be styled with expressive branches or flowers, or displayed alone as an art object on a console, dining table or plinth.
